Cavendish Cancer Care is a local Sheffield charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for people living with cancer in South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. I was first introduced to the charity through my previous employment at Jaywing were we would do some fundraising from time to time.
I ran the Sheffield Half Marathon 2018 whilst raising money and awareness to the charity. From my talks with Jonny and the account manager at Jaywing, me and Ben (backend developer) decided to re-skin the current website with the new brand Jaywing had created pro bona.
As the project was more of a re-skin rather than a complete re-development/overhaul I concentrated my skills and decided to work on just the frontend of the website as the project needed to be like for like in the CMS due to the training and skills the client already had with Wordpress.
I worked closely with our UX designer, Johnny, to make small components that could be reused across the entirety of the website and keeping the backend development to a minimal. For this reason, I created a component list, along with a working prototype that could be passed off to the backend developer for integration.
A happy client with a more functional website that looks and feels more like the brand has been worked into the website and not just an afterthought.
